2. The album spawned three singles, "Bury Me Deep in Love", "Trick of the Light" and "Holy Water". The latter track was recorded with American producer Craig Leon. 3. In The Pines is simply the result of a week spent by the Triffids with an eight track recorder in a shearing shed km south east of Perth, Western Australia. It was a holiday from modern recording studios. The Triffids fled to the edge of the Nullarbor Desert to ensure they were as far away from the world as possible.

In The Pines was the follow-up to The Triffids' massively acclaimed Born Sandy Devotional album, and saw the group getting back to basics, recording in comparative isolation on an eight-track recorder in Ravensthorpe, Western Australia. As a consequence of this, the album is a stripped-down set of nuts and bolts rock & roll and swaggering country. This is an album that's been compared to Dylan.
